West Midlands 5G (WM5G) is the organisation established to drive the roll-out and adoption of 5G networks and technology across the West Midlands, and to test, prove and scale-up new 5G products and services. Working in partnership with public and private sector organisations in the UK, WM5G has delivered use cases in the areas of manufacturing, transport and health and social care.

We were tasked with helping boost awareness of the work of WM5G, among both local businesses and wider citizens, by engaging an integrated strategy that included PR, social media and digital marketing.

By engaging regional and industry press, we secured coverage across print and online media, delivering 43 pieces of coverage. This included coverage in key technology publications Computer Weekly and Total Telecom, regional newspaper Express & Star, and transport title Railway Gazette International, and reached a total audience of 9.5m.

Meanwhile our social media strategy, which encompassed a paid and organic approach, resulted in a 39% increase in social media followers, while a new lead generation campaign to encourage businesses to register for programmes run by WM5G saw local SMEs engage with the business to sign-up for new 5G trials.
