Love food calendar

A calendar guide to cutting food waste

The average British family can save more than £600 a year on its shopping bill by cutting food and drink waste. Allied to the Love Food Hate Waste campaign, the States of Guernsey appointed us to produce a glossy calendar to show islanders how to reduce what they throw away – and create delicious meals instead.

The brief

Liquid was tasked with designing and printing a full-colour, family-friendly calendar with original photography. It had to feature simple, tasty recipes and top money-saving tips to encourage residents to get maximum “bangs for their bucks” from their shopping.

What we did

We styled and photographed a dozen dishes, one for each month of the year. The recipes were developed and cooked by our chef director. The recipes highlighted the key messages of Love Food Hate Waste and contained advice on using up odds and ends – such as a tray roast of left-over carrots, squash, courgettes and corn to make a yummy veggie main course or side.

The result

Working with our copywriters, designers and photographers, we produced 4,000 calendars in less than two months for distribution at a major consumer show. We used a laminated cover and recycled paper to match the ethos of the campaign.
