Cordia UK (formerly Cordia Blackswan) is a Birmingham-based residential property developer, driven by a placemaking-led ethos to deliver high-quality projects that combine restoration and refurbishment. Liquid was appointed to help raise the profile of the work Cordia UK is delivering by engaging regional and industry media through a targeted PR strategy.

Our approach

Liquid was tasked with devising and activating a promotional stunt to drive visitors to Great Hampton Street, an underused area of Birmingham’s iconic Jewellery Quarter during the Commonwealth Games and create an opportunity for Cordia UK to engage with property decision-makers.

50 years after he left the city, Liquid brought back King Kong and gave a piece of history back to Birmingham. We launched a multi-channel campaign which saw a 7-metre-high identical replica of the infamous King Kong statue by sculptor Nicholas Monro arrive in the new ‘King Kong Park’.

The impact

King Kong Returns was seen by millions with visitors flocking to the pop-up park from the West Midlands and beyond. The campaign generated 105 pieces of media coverage regionally, nationally, and internationally and 5,000 clicks and +1 million impressions across social media channels.
