Birmingham City Council wanted a powerful way to capture the success of the 2022 Commonwealth Games and turn it into a legacy the city could build on.
Our approach
We used blended storytelling to bring the Games’ ‘Be Bold’ spirit to life - mixing human stories, striking visuals, a commissioned poem and powerful data points into one cohesive narrative. The 90page report became a vibrant showcase of impact, while a limited run of 36 citywide posters fused bold imagery with tight, memorable moments. Together, they reignited the magic of that summer — from record-breaking victories to cultural icons like the Raging Bull and Ozzy Osbourne’s showstopping finale.
The impact
The campaign shone a light on Birmingham at its very best and demonstrated the value of the Games beyond pure finances, to meaningful and lasting community benefits and providing a strong foundation on which to build.
By blending data with emotional experiences, the work reframed the Games as a catalyst for longterm pride and momentum. It gave Birmingham a confident, unifying story that proved the Games delivered cultural and community value far beyond the event itself - and created a legacy narrative the city continues to build on.
