Spring Content Shoot with NCSC

Sweetpotatoes in Spring

Recently, the Liquid team stepped into spring with a fresh round of photography and videography, putting our favourite food‑styling tricks to work for the North Carolina Sweetpotato Commission. From colour play to clever lighting and camera angles, every setup was designed to keep sweetpotatoes front and centre while giving the dishes a bright, seasonal lift.

Read on to see how we styled our way to a final look that captures the warmth of spring and summer.

Mood boards shaped the creative direction for this shoot, guiding us toward a rustic farmhouse chic look. We worked with hard natural light throughout to create an outdoors feel, keeping the dishes warm, honest and understated. Key elements of the styling included textured surfaces, raw linens, simple ceramics and wooden boards, all captured in natural light to give the recipes a relaxed, real finish.

We also drew on key food trends across Europe to shape both the styling and the recipes. For instance, Asian fusion dishes are continuing to grow in popularity, health‑focused meals remain a priority for consumers and Germany leans toward simple sweetpotato preparations. There is also a clear appetite for show‑stopping desserts across all markets.

With this in mind, one of the standout dishes included the Sweetpotato Cheesecake with a Ginger Crumb, layered with sweetpotato purée, stem ginger, cream cheese and mascarpone, topped with peaches for a bright finish. We also captured Mediterranean Loaded Sweetpotatoes with a fresh feta salad, a stripped back BBQ Grilled Sweetpotatoes dish and a Salmon Laksa with Sweetpotato Noodles inspired by Peranakan cooking, a blend of Chinese, Malay and Indonesian flavours.

Captured in hard, all-natural light and styled to feel effortless and outdoorsy, the shoot came together exactly as intended.
