supporting growth in a competitive market
The Channel Islands Co-operative Society Limited is the Channel Islands’ largest retailer with superstores, supermarkets and convenience stores across Guernsey and Jersey. The Co-op’s portfolio also includes furniture stores, travel agents, petrol stations, a sports store, funeral homes and medical practices.
Liquid was appointed in 2011 to provide PR consultancy and support to the small in-house team across the Channel Islands. During the time we have worked with the Co-op, Waitrose has entered the local market with five stores, bringing strong competition. Despite this, the Society continues to grow, delivering increasing dividends to its members and providing significant financial support to charities and voluntary organisations across the islands. Liquid works alongside the Co-op’s inhouse team providing PR support and handles all media enquiries, the majority of which are reactive and so require urgent attention and a quick turnaround. We draft and co-ordinate all media releases for the entire portfolio of businesses.
In 2014, we also helped the Co-op launch Co-operative medical care – an innovative brand extension, diversifying the estate and broadening the offering.
Our public relations activity has helped the Society continue to grow and deliver increasing dividends to its members, whilst at the same time providing significant financial support to charities and voluntary organisations across the islands.
Chief operating officer, Mark Cox notes our effectiveness as a strategic partner:
“Liquid supports our initiatives and activities with drive, determination and insight. They are a valued partner, and their expertise is vital in helping us communicate our messages clearly through all media channels."
